This is Your Body on Yoga — A New Start
This weekend take some time for something your body will thank you for — and your mind will be pretty happy too! Doug Keller has been traveling the world for more than 20 years, teaching accessible but enjoyably challenging yoga workshops that emphasize insightful principles of wellness in body and mind, and the straightforward yoga practices which support that wellness in our everyday lives.
This is news you can use, and a path you can safely choose. Through this active workshop you’ll learn your body in ways that help you get it to work better for you — in your feet, knees, hips, low back, neck, and shoulders. It would be nice to be issued a ‘user’s manual’ for our body from early on in our lives. Yoga is about as close as it comes, as taught by Doug — and it’s never too late!

Friday Evening: Freedom in Your Shoulders
Our shoulders have three moving parts — collarbone, shoulder blade, and armbone. For healthy, pain-free movement of the shoulders, all three parts have to work together well.
This practice teaches you how to get them to work together well, increasing your range of pain-free movement, and it will surprise you just how good they feel afterward.
The practice, which includes fundamental yoga asanas and the sequences that link them together, won’t have any extreme movements or stretches, and will include plenty of ‘light bulb’ moments for working better with your shoulders in yoga poses — and in life.

The Sturdier the Roots, the Taller the Tree — Your Feet, Knees, and Hips
So much of the health of our knees and hips depends on how we use our feet, that it’s a wonder we don’t spend more time on them. Yoga practice gives a unique opportunity to put together simple, healthy actions for the feet together with healthy actions for the knees and hips.
This practice will start with simple ideas and practices for the feet that will quickly blossom into a yoga practice that supports the stability and wellness of your knees and hips. This isn’t about ‘flexibility.’ It’s about movement, and what movement does for the strength and flexibility of your joints — especially the ones that have been carrying you around your whole life!
Saturday Afternoon: @ 2p-4:30p
Loving Your Low Back in Movement and Breath
The health of our low back depends upon both breath and movement: too little of either, and we suffer tightness and pain. The vast majority of Americans do indeed experience back pain at one point or another in our lives, and for many it does become chronic.
Our practice will include the relationship between good diaphragmatic breath and movement that is healthy for the back and sacrum, and will cover helpful ideas for problems such as sciatica.

As Above, So Below — Harmonized Body and Mind
This practice will pull together the elements of the weekend, harmonizing upper and lower body, movement and breath, and giving additional insights and practices for neck health as linked to the shoulders. We’ll have tools for recognizing unconscious patterns in our posture and movement that impact our health and give rise to aches — especially in the low back and neck, and the practice will give you tools for a ‘reset.’
We’ll include some breath practices, as well as experiences of breath practices that refresh, as well as a relaxation practice that renews.
